Are you an enthusiastic and highly motivated Nurse who is ready for a challenge The East Site Urology Nursing team is seeking a highly self-motivated practitioner, with a desire to promote and develop clinical excellence in clinical practice. The successful postholder will join an established Urology Nursing team and provide nursing support to inpatient / outpatient areas.
The post holder would provide professional clinical support to patients who are on a cancer investigation or treatment pathway for suspected or confirmed urological malignancy, acting as a role model within the department and surgical division ensuring that competence in clinical practice is both developed and maintained.
The post holder would work independently within this specialist post combining expert clinical practice , patient pathway management , leader ship , service development and multi disciplinary working across the prostate cancer journey by delivering and coordinating compassionate patient centred care . The prostate clinical nurse specialist would actively participate and contribute in clinical audit within prostate cancer to support the wider team in ensuring that services are continually developed.
We're looking for a Prostate Clinical Nurse Specialist to support patients through their initial assessment and diagnostic testing and follow up care for Prostate Cancer.
The post holder will be the lead nurse practitioner in prostate cancer; demonstrating autonomous practice and have the specific responsibility to run the straight to test service . Other specialist skills including the giving of bad news , managing difficult conversations around diagnosis and treatment and being able to request and interpret histological , biochemical and radiological tests and results . As lead ; the post holder will contribute to service evaluation acting as patient advocate and provide professional contributions to reach cancer targets. The post holder will regularly attend oncological MDT and discuss patients as their keyworker.
The post would involve supporting urology services to maintain cancer targets, attend MDT as required, being able to use analytical skills to problem solve and find solutions to ensure that best practice, and best patient care outcomes are achieved.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
