Cambridge Music Therapy & Education Ltd provides high-quality instrumental tuition and music therapy services across Cambridge.
We work with children, families, schools, SEN settings, and community venues, with a strong focus on inclusive, nurturing, and student-centred music education.
We are currently looking for freelance Drum and Guitar teachers to join our growing team.
Instrument Teachers (Freelance)
1. Guitar Teacher
- Comfortable teaching beginners and young children.
- Able to introduce basic chords, rhythm, notation, and good playing posture.
- Experience teaching acoustic or classical guitar and supporting popular-song learning is preferred.
2. Drum Teacher
- Experience teaching beginners and young children.
- Confident introducing basic rhythm, coordination, drum technique, and musical notation.
- Able to teach using acoustic or electronic drum kits and support ensemble playing.
3. Violin Teacher
- Experience teaching beginners aged 4–6 preferred
- Familiar with posture, bow hold, and early-years pedagogy
4. Oboe Teacher
- Experience introducing woodwind instruments to beginners preferred
- Confident explaining reeds, maintenance, and basic care
- Orchestral / ensemble background highly valued
5. Saxophone Teacher
- Experience introducing Saxophone instrument to young children
- Confident explaining reeds, maintenance, and basic care
- Orchestral / ensemble background highly valued
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver individual and small-group instrumental lessons to children (typically aged 4–18)
- Teach in a variety of settings, including: Students’ homes / Schools / Community venues and Our piano teaching room (when applicable)
- Plan engaging, age-appropriate lessons tailored to each student’s needs
- Communicate clearly and professionally with parents and the admin team
- Prepare students for: - ABRSM / Trinity exams (where appropriate), Concerts, ensembles, and informal performances
- Maintain a supportive, encouraging, and inclusive learning environment
Essential Requirements
- Instrumental standard equivalent to ABRSM Grade 8 or above in the relevant instrument
- Strong musical foundation with good technical and expressive ability
- Experience teaching children or young people
- Right to work in the UK
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
Desirable Requirements
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car (preferred, as some lessons are at students’ homes or schools)
- Experience teaching students with SEN (e.g. autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, anxiety, etc.)
- Patient, flexible, and child-centred teaching approach
- Interest in inclusive or community-based music education
