Water Engineering Operative / Outdoor Plumbing & Groundworks

CPI Moling is looking for a reliable, motivated and hands-on individual to join our outdoor water engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical construction or groundworks experience who is looking to develop their career in leak repairs, water supply installations, outdoor plumbing, plant operation, groundworks and thrust boring.
The Role
As part of our team, you will work on a varied range of outdoor water engineering projects. The role involves installing and repairing water supply systems, operating machinery, carrying out excavation and reinstatement work, and supporting wider groundworks and utility installation tasks.
You will be involved in practical, first-hand site work as one of our water engineers, combining outdoor plumbing, pipefitting, labouring and machinery operation. The role offers a varied working environment and would suit someone who takes pride in completing high-quality work safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
· Installing water supply networks and laying pipes
· Repairing water leaks, including outdoor plumbing and pipefitting
· Completing some internal plumbing works when required
· Carrying out hand and machine excavation
· Supporting landscaping, groundworks and site reinstatement
· Assisting with gas, cable and ducting installations
· Operating plant and machinery where trained and authorised
About You
We value the right attitude just as highly as formal qualifications. You should be conscientious, enthusiastic, practical and have good attention to detail. You must be comfortable working outdoors in a physical, hands-on role and be willing to learn new skills as part of a supportive team.
Essential requirements:
· Full UK driving licence
· Previous hands-on construction experience
· General groundworks knowledge
· A practical, reliable and safety-conscious approach to work
Preferred qualifications and tickets, although not essential:
· 360-degree excavator operator below 10 tonnes
· Forward tipping dumper up to 10 tonnes
· CPCS, NPORS, CITB or BRITTOp card holder
Experience in any of the following would be beneficial:
· Plumbing or laying water pipes
· Pipe repairs and connections
· Excavator or dumper driving
· Thrust boring, also known as moling
· Groundworks
· Butt fusion or electrofusion pipe welding
Hours and Employment Details
This is a full-time, permanent employed position based from our depot in Bognor Regis. Standard working hours are 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The working day starts at 7:15am and finishes at 4:45pm, with a 30-minute unpaid break each day. Some overtime may be required to complete works and will be paid at an additional rate while working on site. You will also be placed onto the company’s attendance bonus scheme. The attendance bonus will be on a weekly attendance bonus of £40.00 per week, if you are late or absent, only that week’s attendance bonus would be affected and you will lose your bonus for that week but is not affected by scheduled time off. This is intended to encourage consistent attendance and help reduce time off and holds a value of £2,080.00 annually.
