Job Description / Information
This role is to provide support and opportunities to engage in activities in the community for a 20-year-old young male adult with autism and learning disabilities.
An interest in helping the young person’s development towards a more independent life is essential, including possibly support during any volunteering opportunities that arise. There are no specific personal care needs, but safety in the community, particularly regarding traffic movement is essential.
An enthusiasm for the outdoors, such as climbing and hill-walking would be an advantage (the young person climbs regularly with Scottish Para-Climbing Club at EICA and at the University of St Andrews Climbing Wall).
The Young Person
- Living at home with parents in St Andrews.
- Articulate and enjoys talking about a variety of subjects, particularly interested in animals and anything associated with David Attenborough, space and time, and the classical world.
- Enjoys climbing and keen to try some hill-walking.
- Enjoys strength and conditioning training.
- Enjoys coffee and going to local coffee shops.
Qualifications
- A full driving licence is essential, with your own transport.
- No qualifications are necessary, but an understanding of the difficulties associated with being neuro-diverse would be an advantage.
- The position would suit both male and female applicants.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £14.50 per hour
