Tungsten West is restarting the world-class Hemerdon Tungsten-Tin Mine and is looking for an experienced Mining Engineer to join our Technical Services team.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the planning, design and optimisation of a large-scale open pit mining operation while playing a key role in the successful restart of one of the world's largest tungsten resources.
** This role requires you to pass a Drug and Alcohol test on day one **

About the Role
As a Mining Engineer, you will support short and medium-term mine planning, mine design and operational optimisation to ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective production.
You will work closely with Geology, Drill & Blast, Survey and Operations teams to deliver practical mining solutions and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop short and medium-term mine plans and production schedules.
- Design and optimise open pit mining layouts and phases.
- Produce and maintain mine designs using planning software.
- Support load and haul optimisation and fleet productivity improvements.
- Contribute to mine infrastructure planning and implementation.
- Deliver technical mining projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Analyse operational performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with Geology, Survey and Operations teams to ensure accurate planning data.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and operational standards.
What We're Looking For Essential
- Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 4 years' experience in open pit hard rock mining.
- Experience in short and medium-term mine planning.
- Strong mine design and scheduling experience.
- Experience with load and haul optimisation.
- Knowledge of mine infrastructure planning and implementation.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable
- Experience in an owner-operator mining environment.
- Proficiency with Deswik software.
- International mining experience.
- Experience delivering continuous improvement projects.
