We are now looking for a skilled and dependable Maintenance Person to join our team and help keep our home running smoothly.
About the Role
As our Maintenance Person, you will be responsible for ensuring the building, grounds, and equipment are safe, well‑maintained, and compliant with regulatory standards. You will work closely with the management team to prioritise tasks and respond promptly to maintenance issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out day‑to‑day repairs, maintenance, and basic DIY tasks
- Complete regular checks including fire safety, water temperature monitoring, and equipment inspections
- Maintain external areas such as gardens, pathways, and car parks
- Support with room moves, furniture assembly, and minor refurbishment work
- Ensure all maintenance tasks are logged, recorded, and completed in line with CQC and Health & Safety requirements
- Liaise with external contractors and oversee scheduled works
- Respond promptly to urgent maintenance issues to ensure resident safety
- Maintain a tidy, organised workshop and storage area
- Work respectfully within a care environment, being mindful of residents’ needs, routines, and dignity
About You
We’re looking for someone who is practical, proactive, and takes pride in their work.
Essential Skills & Qualities
- Experience in maintenance, caretaking, or a similar hands‑on role
- Good general DIY skills (plumbing, joinery, painting, basic electrics)
- Understanding of health & safety and safe working practices
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- Friendly, approachable, and comfortable interacting with older adults
- Reliable, organised, and able to prioritise tasks effectively
Desirable
- Experience working in a care home or similar environment
- Knowledge of CQC compliance relating to premises and safety
- Full UK driving licence
