What you’ll do
As a Senior Support Worker you will support young people with their daily routines; Getting them ready for school, prepping for meal times and planning activities.
- Create a warm, homely environment by helping with light housekeeping.
- Lead shift and deputise home manager
- Build strong, meaningful relationships and provide emotional support.
- Plan and join fun activities like trips to the park, popcorn & movie nights or creative projects.
- Keep essential records to ensure the best possible care.
Where you'll do it
The home is a 3 bed residential home for young people aged up to 18 years old of either gender with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties, through adverse childhood experiences such as trauma, neglect, sexual, physical, mental, social or emotional abuse or children that are in a situation of family breakdown. Theye take a multiagency approach to support young people to get the best care possible to meet their individual care needs. Staff build positive and caring relationships with the young people so they are able to male fun loving memories. Staff support and prepare young people for independence by following a through independent living plan and having a transition plan in place. Seeing the progress young people make from when they first arrive on the home is amazing to see and gives the staff a feeling of achievement, that they were able to make a difference in a young person’s life for the better and gave them a positive experience of life.
The home has a caring, experienced staff team who look after not only the young people but each other too. They provide a nurturing family environment, staff work together as a team and take a content approach with the young people being firm but fair with the rules and boundaries. Staff take in to account young people’s views feelings and wishes. Staff use each other’s strengths and weakness to achieve the best outcomes possible.
Who you are
- Warm, patient, a great listener and encourager - focused on achieving outcomes for others
- Driver with full UK driving licence
- Hold a minimum of NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare
- Two years working experience in a residential setting
