Key Responsibilities
As Operations & Warehouse Team Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the warehouse and ensuring the efficient handling of parcels and freight throughout the network.
Your duties will include:
- Managing all evening warehouse operations, including receiving returned vehicles, unloading inbound consignments, sorting freight and preparing outbound trunk loads.
- Leading the afternoon and evening warehouse operation, ensuring all returning delivery vehicles are unloaded efficiently and the outbound trunk is loaded accurately and departs on schedule each evening.
- Developing and implementing efficient warehouse processes to maximise productivity, service quality and minimise errors.
- Ensuring accurate inventory control through regular cycle counts and stock reconciliation.
- Coordinating with the logistics team to ensure all outbound consignments are correctly processed and loaded in line with network departure deadlines.
- Monitoring daily operational performance and taking proactive action to resolve service issues, minimise delays and improve operational efficiency.
- Supervising warehouse staff, providing leadership, training, coaching and performance management.
- Maintaining a safe, clean and compliant working environment in accordance with company policies and health and safety legislation.
- Using routing and warehouse management systems to monitor inbound freight, organise outbound consignments, manage returns and ensure accurate shipment tracking.
- Building and maintaining strong working relationships with subcontractors, agency providers and driver suppliers to ensure access to reliable, professional and high-quality driving resources.
- Assisting with the recruitment, onboarding and training of drivers and warehouse operatives where required.
- Assisting with collections, trunk movements or other operational duties when required.
- Supporting the achievement of company service level agreements, customer satisfaction targets and operational KPIs.
- Ensuring all outbound freight is scanned, secured and loaded in accordance with APC Overnight network procedures, with the trunk departing safely and on time each evening.
- Identifying and escalating any late arrivals, missing freight or operational issues that could impact the network departure, taking appropriate action to minimise disruption.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will be expected to demonstrate:
- Previous experience in warehouse management or a similar supervisory position.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- A good understanding of logistics and warehouse best practices.
- The ability to safely operate counterbalance and reach truck forklifts and other warehouse equipment. Training will be provided.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to continuous improvement.

- Monday-Friday 11:30am-07:30pm
- Saturday 5am-10am (rota basis)
