Retractable Seating Installation and Service Technician (UK)
Location: Various UK Sites (nationwide travel required), remote
Reports To: Technical and Operations Director
Role Overview
The Tiering and Seating Installation Technician is responsible for the installation, assembly, and maintenance of fixed and retractable seating systems across a range of venues, including theatres, cinemas, sports stadiums, schools, and auditoriums. The role involves working on construction and refurbishment sites, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to agreed specifications and UK industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Install tiering and seating systems in line with technical drawings, layouts, and manufacturer specifications
- Assemble tiering and seating components
- Set out and mark fixing positions based on site plans and measurements
- Use hand tools, power tools, and fixing systems safely and correctly
- Ensure all installations comply with UK Health & Safety regulations, including risk assessments and method statements (RAMS)
- Work with site managers and other trades to coordinate installation activities
- Carry out snagging, adjustments, and final quality checks
- Diagnose and resolve installation issues on-site
- Undertake repair and maintenance work on existing seating installations
- Complete job reports, documentation, and handover records

- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and CAD layouts
- Strong practical skills (mechanical, assembly, or construction-based)
- Attention to detail and high-quality workmanship
- Good problem-solving ability and adaptability on-site
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills
- Strong awareness of Health & Safety practices in construction environments
- Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling tasks
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous experience in installation, construction, joinery, or mechanical fitting preferred
- Valid CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) – essential for site work
- Valid SSSTS certification
- Full UK driving licence (mandatory)
- Knowledge of manual handling, working at height, and safe use of equipment
- IPAF licence (Mobile Elevated Work Platforms) – desirable
- PASMA certification (tower scaffolding) – desirable
- First Aid at Work – advantageous
- Enhanced DBS or ability to obtain
- Problem solving attitude
Working Conditions
- Predominantly site-based role with frequent travel across the UK
- Work may include early starts, evening work, or weekend shifts depending on project deadlines
- Regular overnight stays will be required
- Work involves lifting, carrying, and installing heavy components
- Work environments may include construction sites, schools, lecture theatres, etc.

- Proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times
- Participation in toolbox talks and safety briefings
