An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Assistant to join our Accounts team.

The successful candidate will become part of our well establish and knowledgeable accounts team. We are a large family run business originally established in 1877, although the company has grown considerably, we have maintained the culture of a family business where each person is recognised as important to the success of the company.
The Accounts team are looking forward to welcoming a new member to the department. Ideally, we’re looking for someone with relevant experience who can bring additional knowledge and expertise to an already well-respected team. However, we’re equally open to candidates who may be newer to the role but can demonstrate the right attitude, commitment and willingness to learn.
Many of our people have been with us for many years, with a number having over 20 years’ service and some reaching more than 30 years. THE ROLE: As an Accounts Assistant you would be expected to work as part of the existing Accounts team working on both sales ledger and purchase ledger.
DUTIES: Will include, but are not limited to:
- Bank reconciliation – posting and allocating payments and balancing
- Balance supplier statements against our ledger.
- Providing customers with proof of deliveries or credits
- Liaising with customers, suppliers as well as the sales and purchasing departments regarding invoices queries.
- Processing supplier invoices and billing customers.
- Responding to supplier requests for payment.
- Assisting with accounts calls.
- Contacting customers regarding outstanding account balances.
CANDIDATE: We’re looking for a well-presented, enthusiastic individual who enjoys working as part of a team. You’ll ideally have experience working in a busy accounts’ environment, along with strong numerical and communication skills. The ability to work accurately under pressure, meet tight deadlines and maintain excellent attention to detail is essential. You’ll be self-motivated, organised and confident in using your initiative, with a practical approach to problem-solving and a willingness to get involved and support the wider team.
THE PACKAGE: Salary is dependent on experience, other benefits include 27 days holiday plus bank holidays, a Christmas shutdown, annual PRP Bonus, option to buy or sell holidays and life assurance among others. The normal working week will be Monday to Friday.
