Overview
EXPERIENCE IN CAFE/ restaurant/ bakery REQUIRED, Indian cuisine preferred - please do not apply unless you have had minimum 1 year experience as a chef / sous chef / pastry chef in a cafe or restaurant setting, preferably within indian cuisine sector. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our small team as a part time chef and barista (creating+ making baked goods , light bites, Indian masala tea and coffee). Experience with Indian cuisine and chai is preferred. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in food preparation and kitchen operations within a dynamic environment. The successful candidate will be passionate about delivering high-quality meals and ensuring excellent food safety standards. At least 1 year Previous experience in a restaurant, bakery or catering setting is required, and a keen love for cooking / baking.
Duties
- Prepare ingredients and assist in the cooking of a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards
- Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards
- Assist with meal assembly, plating, and presentation to meet quality expectations
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, utensils, and equipment
- Support the team during busy service periods by efficiently managing multiple tasks
- Follow all health and safety procedures to create a safe working environment for all staff members
- Contribute to menu planning and suggest improvements based on customer feedback and seasonal ingredients
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or kitchen environments
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak service times
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in meal presentation and cleanliness
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Good understanding of culinary techniques and meal preparation processes
- Previous restaurant or catering experience
