Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Home Support Worker to join a family-based care team in the Retford area. This role is specifically designed to support a young person who experiences difficulties with mobility, communication, and eating. The position is open only to applicants aged over 25, in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
Eligibility and Legal Requirements
- Applicants must be aged 25 or over (Equality Act 2010).
- Full UK driver's licence required.
- Non-smoker.
- Post subject to enhanced DBS checks.
Hours Required
- Alternate weekend shifts: Saturday and Sunday, 09:00–19:00.
- Overnight support for short breaks may be required.

Role Description
The successful candidate will provide personalised support, focusing on promoting independence, building relationships, and following therapy programmes. Duties include assisting with mobility, communication, and eating (high-calorie, smooth-consistency diet), as well as acting as a companion for outdoor pursuits and leisure activities.
Essential Skills and Training
- Good communication skills.
- Effective problem-solving abilities.
- Care skills and a compassionate approach.
- If not already qualified with NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent), or The Care Certificate qualification.
Person Specification
- Reliable, friendly, and active individual is essential.
- Patient, enthusiasm, and professionalism are essential.
- At least two years’ experience of working in UK with families or in the community is essential.
- Confident and skilled driver with a full UK licence.
- Non-smoker.
- Over 25 years old.
