Personal Injury Fee Earner
We are seeking an experienced Personal Injury Fee Earner/Paralegal to join our Manchester office. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with a minimum of 18 months' experience handling Personal Injury matters. The role will involve managing a caseload consisting primarily of Road Traffic Accident (RTA) claims, with some Employers' Liability (EL) and Public Liability (PL) matters.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing their own caseload from instruction through to settlement or litigation while delivering an excellent standard of client care.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage your own caseload, consisting primarily of RTA claims, with some EL and PL matters.
- Take initial instructions from clients and assess the merits of potential claims.
- Obtain all relevant information and accurately set up new matters on the case management system.
- Prepare client statements and supporting documentation.
- Obtain, review and value medical evidence to accurately quantify damages.
- Prepare cases for litigation where appropriate.
- Handle claims through the OIC, MOJ and MIB portals.
- Arrange the recovery and storage of vehicles where required.
- Manage credit hire matters.
- Liaise effectively with clients, insurers, medical experts, engineers and other relevant agencies to progress claims efficiently.
- Negotiate settlement of claims to achieve the best possible outcomes for clients.
- Provide regular updates to clients throughout the lifecycle of each claim.
- Work closely with Partners and colleagues to ensure the efficient progression of files.
- Maintain accurate file management and ensure compliance with regulatory and firm procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- A minimum of 18 months' experience as a Personal Injury Fee Earner or Paralegal.
- Proven experience handling RTA claims, with exposure to EL and PL matters.
- Working knowledge of the OIC, MOJ and MIB portals.
- Experience dealing with credit hire claims.
- Ability to read, interpret and accurately value medical reports.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational and client care skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- A professional, proactive and organised approach to work.
