IHP is seeking Slaughtermen for their poultry abattoir located in Bovingdon, Hertfordshire.
You will slaughter live (stunned) birds humanely and hygienically in compliance with Red Tractor, BRCGS, Halal, FSA and animal welfare legislation.
Applicant must be male and a practising Muslim, due to the nature of the slaughtering process.
Main job description:
1. Slaughter birds calmly and humanely at all times inline with religious slaughtering regulations (Halal)
2. Slaughter birds correctly to minimise stress and injury
3. Follow Welfare of Animals at the Time of Killing (WATOK) regulations
4. Maintain hygiene and biosecurity controls
5. Report welfare or food safety concerns immediately
6. Use PPE and follow manual handling procedures
7. Maintain clean and orderly work areas
8. Work to required line speeds without compromising safety or quality
9. To develop yourself to ensure that your training is kept in line with current requirements / legislation. Compete the required training to meet company production requirements.
10. Primary Production: Comply with Animal Welfare, Bio-security and environmental standards and Procedures.
11. Communicate with colleagues, supervisors, managers, visitors and contractors clearly and respectfully.
12. Employment terms and conditions must be adhered to at all times.
13. To provide cover to different production areas when required.
14. Management reserve the right to update job descriptions when necessary.
15. Any duties (reasonable) as deemed by your manager.
Candidates must be physically fit as manual handling is required in most roles.

Candidates must have Right to Work valid for 2 years. IHP Ltd are not able to provide sponsorship or visa switches
Shifts:
· Various shifts available. Shifts between 06:00 to end of production
· Hours: 40-55hours [This will vary and may exceed hours detailed depending on production requirements]
· Generally Monday to Friday (occasional Saturday and Bank Holiday working required)
· Production times may vary and flexibility is required on the shift times by all staff.
Experience:
- Hold a valid WATOK Certificate of Competence (CoC) covering codes PO, K15, K53 and K61, or demonstrate the ability to successfully complete WATOK training and assessment in English (spoken and written) within 3 months of registration.
- Basic food safety training would be a bonus, but training will be given.
Rate of pay: £13.50 per hour
