Duties
- Dispense prescribed medications accurately in accordance with medical prescriptions and legal requirements
- Provide professional advice to patients regarding medication use, potential side effects, and interactions
- Monitor patient medication histories and ensure safe administration, especially in critical care settings such as ICU
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimise patient treatment plans
- Maintain precise records of dispensed medications and patient interactions
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, including proper storage and labelling of medicines
- Assist in inventory management, including stock checks and ordering supplies as needed
- Educate patients on medication adherence and lifestyle modifications to support health outcomes
Qualifications
- Fully qualified Pharmacist registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) or equivalent regulatory body
- Proven experience in a clinical setting, preferably with ICU experience or similar high-dependency environments
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, pharmacology, and medication administration protocols
- Excellent communication skills with a compassionate approach to patient care
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Organised with meticulous attention to detail and adherence to legal standards for pharmacy practice
