Samsung Cambridge Solution Centre (SCSC) is a specialised research and development which forms part of Samsung Semiconductor S.LSI division. We are dedicated to creating Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity technologies for Samsung's product range. We play a vital role in powering Samsung’s Exynos chips, which are essential components in mobile devices and other connected technologies. Through our research and innovation efforts, we ensure Samsung’s devices deliver fast, efficient, and dependable wireless connectivity, meeting the needs of users worldwide in an increasingly connected world.
Full Description:
You will support the internal IT infrastructure and provide first-level technical support to employees. This role is designed for an individual eager to learn and develop their technical skills in a real-world professional environment. In this role you will have the opportunity to work under the guidance of senior engineers to maintain system stability, deploy hardware/software, resolve basic technical issues, and assist with asset management.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Act as the first point of contact for technical queries via ticketing system or email.
- Perform basic troubleshooting for hardware (PCs, laptops, printers) and software (OS, productivity suites).
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and updating of software applications.
- Guide end-users through basic technical processes to improve digital literacy.
Infrastructure & Maintenance
- Assist in the deployment and setup of new workstations and peripheral devices.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of all IT assets (hardware and software licenses).
- Help monitor network connectivity and report outages or performance lags.
Documentation & Learning
- Create and update "How-To" guides and knowledge base articles for end-users.
- Document technical issues and the steps taken to resolve them.
- Attend training sessions and complete required certifications as part of the apprenticeship program.
How We’ll Measure Success Together
- Ticket Resolution: Ability to resolve basic tickets independently over time.
- Learning Progress: Successful completion of assigned training modules or certifications.
- Accuracy: Precision in maintaining the IT asset inventory.
- Reliability: Timely response to support requests and adherence to company policies.
Future Prospects:
This will be a 2-year contract.
Training Provided:
Firebrand’s sector-leading Level 3 Information Communication Technician (L3ICT) Apprenticeship Programme trains apprentices to deliver efficient operation and control of the IT and Telecommunications infrastructure and to deliver and support the information systems needs of an organisation. Options include pathways for Support Technician, Network Technician and Digital Communications Technician.
Firebrands course is delivered either Online (online live instructor led), or face to face in the classroom environment (your choice). Our Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Learning Mentors (LMs) and world-leading trainers prepare apprentices to work across multiple sectors.
Completion of this apprenticeship will provide learners with the following world class vendor certifications in addition to the Information Communication
Technician apprenticeship:
Microsoft Certified Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
CompTIA IT Fundamentals+
Certiport IT Specialist Networking
Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
Key areas covered are:
Support Technician
Maintenance or repair of systems faults
Support for the roll-out of installation and commission of new systems or upgrades
Skills Required:
Required
- A strong passion for technology, computing, and problem-solving.
- Excellent communication skills and a patient, helpful attitude toward non-technical users.
- A proactive approach to learning and the ability to follow detailed instructions.
Desired
- Basic understanding of Windows /Linux environments.
- Basic knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Previous experience building a PC or managing a home network.

Qualifications Required:
A minimum of five GCSEs with grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), including English and maths
