Overview
We are seeking an experienced Early Years Practitioner (NVQ Level 3 or above) to join our professional 0–5 years team on a maternity cover basis, with the potential for a long‑term position.
Applicants must hold an up‑to‑date Enhanced DBS and demonstrate strong knowledge of the EYFS, high‑quality practice, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment. Paediatric First Aid training is desirable but not essential. Reliability, excellent communication skills, and a strong understanding of safeguarding and inclusive practice are required.
Duties
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities that promote learning, development, and social skills in line with early childhood education standards
- Supervise and support children’s daily routines, including playtime, mealtime, rest periods, and hygiene practices
- Lead and mentor junior staff members to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality childcare services
- Maintain accurate records of children’s progress, attendance, and developmental milestones
- Foster strong communication with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their child’s progress and well-being
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children by adhering to health and safety regulations at all times
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of nursery practices through feedback, training, and professional development initiatives
Skills
- Extensive experience working with children in early childhood environments
- Strong knowledge of childcare practices, early childhood education principles, and safeguarding procedures
- Excellent communication skills in English to effectively engage with children, parents, and team members
- Ability to organise activities that support developmental milestones for various age groups
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team while also taking initiative independently
