Job Overview
Ashgill Care Home is looking for a vibrant, big-hearted Activities Coordinator to join our team. We don’t just "fill time"—we celebrate life. Whether it’s a high-energy group celebration or a quiet, sensory one-to-one session, you will be the driving force behind a culture of joy and connection.
We need a targeted go-getter who will actively engage with our residents to understand their personal histories, preferences, and hobbies, translating that data into a high-quality, tailored activity plan that measurably enhances their daily quality of life.
Responsibilites
- Programme Development: Independently design, schedule, and execute a diverse activities calendar based entirely on residents' stated preferences, "Life Stories," and care plans.
- Dementia Care Leadership: Act as a Dementia Ambassador, working directly with our Wallace Unit team to deliver inclusive group activities and tailored 1-on-1 sensory sessions.
- Autonomy & Operations: Manage the activities budget, source and negotiate contracts with external entertainers, and conduct robust risk assessments for all external trips.
- Community Integration: Establish and maintain functional links with local Glasgow schools, hubs, and organizations to facilitate intergenerational projects and outings.
- Administration & Tech: Utilize Google Workspace/MS Office to manage the activity schedule, complete administrative tasks, and independently produce our monthly "Ashgill Voice" newsletter.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct monthly audits of the activities programme using the PDSA (Plan-Do-Study-Act) model to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with Health and Social Care Standards.
What We Are Looking For
- Drive & Initiative: A proven track record of working autonomously, managing your own workload, and problem-solving without close supervision.
- Experience: SVQ Level 2 or 3 in Social Services and Healthcare (or a commitment to working toward it).
- Event Management: Ability to ideate, plan, and execute a diverse monthly calendar (e.g., seasonal celebrations, themed events, and intergenerational projects) while adhering to a strict budget.
- Values & Compliance: Full awareness of the Health and Social Care Standards (Dignity, Compassion, and Inclusion). SSSC registration (or willingness to achieve this within the required timeframe) and a clean PVG scheme membership are mandatory.
- Skills: Strong organizational capability, digital literacy (Google Workspace/Microsoft), and a practical approach to risk management.
- Licence: A valid UK Driving Licence is highly desirable to facilitate resident outings.
