Summary
At Flakefleet, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, understood and able to shine. We are looking for a compassionate, energetic and nurturing Teaching Assistant to support our Reception and Year 1 children with SEN/EHCPs within a small classroom environment (The Den) designed for pupils who may find the busy mainstream classroom overwhelming. This is a special role for someone who understands that relationships come first, small wins matter hugely, and every child deserves adults who genuinely believe in them.
The successful candidate will work closely with teachers across Reception/Year One and the SEN team to create a calm, supportive and engaging environment where children can build confidence, regulate emotions and develop a love of learning at their own pace.
The Role Will Include:
- Supporting children with SEN/EHCPs within a smaller, nurturing classroom provision
- Helping children access learning through tailored support and encouragement
- Building strong, positive relationships with pupils and families
- Supporting communication, emotional regulation and social development
- Creating a calm and engaging environment where children feel secure and valued
- Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff and external professionals

This position is part time, term time only, please note the salary quoted is full time equivalent. If successful, the salary received will be paid on a pro rata basis.

Essential Qualifications
- Level 2 teaching assistant qualification or equivalent

- Has experience working with children
- Has a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
- Is calm, patient, adaptable and nurturing
- Understands that behaviour is communication
- Can bring positivity, creativity and warmth to the role
- Works well as part of a team and is committed to inclusive practice
