The Despatch Manager is responsible for overseeing all despatch activities within the food manufacturing facility, ensuring that finished products are stored, handled, and distributed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with customer requirements, food safety standards, and company procedures. The role ensures that orders are accurately prepared and delivered on time while maintaining stock integrity and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the day-to-day despatch operations to ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.- Coordinate the loading and dispatch of finished goods in line with production schedules and customer delivery requirements.
- Ensure efficient utilisation of warehouse space and resources.
- Monitor and improve despatch performance through effective planning and process optimisation.
- Maintain accurate records of stock movements, deliveries, and inventory levels.
- Lead, supervise, and develop the despatch and warehouse team.
- Manage staffing levels, shift schedules, and workload allocation.
- Conduct performance reviews and identify training and development needs.
- Promote a positive culture focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Previous experience in a despatch management role, ideally within a food manufacturing environment

Strong knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory management.

Understanding of food safety standards, HACCP, and traceability requirements.

Experience managing teams and leading operational performance.

Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.

Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

Experience with ERP or warehouse management systems
This role is on a Sunday to Thursday shift pattern - hours are 3pm to 11pm
