We are looking for Home Office Authorised Firearms Officers to join our Operational Policing Unit (OPU) within West Mercia Police.
Please note that applications from those currently serving within non home office forces e.g. BTP, MOD, CNC, will not be accepted.
We are centrally located within the West Midlands Region and have several vacancies at the OPU bases at Malinsgate in Telford, Bromsgrove in Worcestershire, and Hereford in Herefordshire.
What will you do?
Contribute to road safety by traffic enforcement and collision investigation
Respond to emergency response calls and support local policing
Provide 24/7-Armed Response cover
Firearms officers require the ability to process significant amounts of information dynamically and then take reasoned and defensible action under pressure. The firearm is but another tool in the armoury in protecting the public, but the most important element is the mind. Taking all possible eventualities into consideration, assessing the information available, measuring the risks and determining the best course of action.

What will we need from you?
Successful candidates will need to:
Be current in all NPFTC modules contained within the ARV role profile
Be able to achieve Level 9.4 Job Related Fitness Test (JRFT)
Be medically fit and able to pass a medical
Be serving in a recognised Home Office Force
Display full competence against the Competency Values Framework (CVF) for the rank of Constable.
Provide a training record endorsed by their current CFI
