With increasing demand for British-made productions, particularly in Manchester and throughout the North, we're looking for an experienced handyman to join our growing full-time team.
Job Summary
We are seeking a versatile and experienced General Maintenance / Handyman to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of our facilities through a wide range of maintenance tasks. This role requires a proactive approach, technical proficiency, and excellent problem-solving skills to maintain safety, functionality, and efficiency across our premises. The position offers an opportunity to utilise a diverse skill set in a dynamic environment, contributing to the overall wellbeing of our organisation.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment.
- Perform repairs involving electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks as needed.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams to accurately diagnose issues.
- Operate programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for troubleshooting and system adjustments.
- Carry out welding work using appropriate techniques and safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and report on equipment status.
- Supervise junior staff or contractors during maintenance projects, ensuring safety standards are met.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing internal or external client requests promptly and professionally.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in general maintenance or handyman roles within a similar environment.
- Strong electrical experience with knowledge of schematics and wiring systems.
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform welding and basic fabrication work.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and industrial automation systems is desirable.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Relevant technical qualifications or certifications in electrical or mechanical trades are preferred.
