Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Dog Kennel Assistant to join our team in providing exceptional care for our canine residents. This role involves maintaining a clean and safe environment, assisting with daily animal care routines, and ensuring the comfort and wellbeing of all dogs in our facility. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animals, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Previous veterinary experience or animal care qualifications are advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.
Duties
- Clean and disinfect kennels, communal areas, and equipment to uphold hygiene standards.
- Feed and water dogs according to their individual dietary requirements.
- Monitor dogs for signs of illness or distress and report any concerns to senior staff promptly.
- Assist with exercise routines, including walking and enrichment of dogs within designated areas.
- Administer medication or treatments as directed by veterinary professionals.
- Provide attentive customer service to pet owners during drop-off and collection times.
- Handle heavy lifting when necessary, such as moving supplies or large animals safely.
- Maintain detailed records of each dog’s health status, behaviour, and daily activities.
- Support team members with additional tasks as required to ensure smooth daily operations.
Experience
- Previous veterinary experience or background in animal care is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong understanding of animal behaviour and welfare standards.
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanour.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
- Organised with the ability to multitask effectively in a busy environment.
- Passionate about animals with a genuine desire to contribute positively to their wellbeing.
