Job Summary
We are direct employer, seeking a professional and reliable HGV Class 1 Driver to join our logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods, primarily specialising in curtain side deliveries.
This role involves operating commercial vehicles such as Artic, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining high standards of safety and customer service. The ideal applicant will have previous experience in delivery driving with a strong focus on truck safety, operations and commercial driving regulations.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate curtain side lorries to deliver goods to various destinations
- Plan routes effectively to ensure timely deliveries while adhering to legal driving hours and safety regulations
- Load and unload cargo with proper handling techniques, ensuring securement of goods during transit
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to identify any maintenance or safety issues
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance reports
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery schedules or any unforeseen delays
- Follow all traffic laws and company policies to uphold safety standards at all times
- Assist with loading or unloading when necessary, ensuring proper handling of all items
Requirements
- Valid driving licence suitable for operating large commercial vehicles, with a clean driving record
- Proven experience as a delivery driver, preferably with flatbed operation experience
- Strong understanding of driving regulations and safety procedures within the UK
- Ability to operate curtain side Artic safely and efficiently, including securing loads properly
- Excellent organisational skills to manage schedules and route planning effectively
- Physical fitness to handle loading/unloading tasks and long hours on the road
- Good communication skills for liaising with clients and team members
- Flexibility to work various shifts as required by operational demands
- Proven experience as a commercial driver, particularly with flatbed lorries or similar vehicles
- Delivery driver experience is highly desirable
- Valid UK HGV Class 1 licence (C+E) with a clean driving record
- Knowledge of current driving regulations and safety standards for large vehicles
- Familiarity with routes and logistics within the region or nationally is advantageous
- Experience in handling cargo securely on flatbeds is preferred
