https://www.supersizeprint.co.uk/
Full-time | Monday–Friday | 9:30am–6:00pm
About Us
Supersize Print is a specialist large-format printing company based in Amersham, Buckinghamshire. Founded in 1996, we are an independent business with nearly 30 years of experience producing high-quality large format print for customers across the UK.
We produce everything from giant print and display to life-size cut-outs and other custom printed products using industry leading state of the art digital print and production technology combined with specialist finishing techniques developed over many years. As a small team, every member plays an important role in maintaining the high standards our customers rely on.
About the Role
We are looking for a Trainee Print Technician to join our team.
No industry experience required – think apprenticeship but without the college and much better paid! So if learning a technical skill appeals to you, but you want a real job and the pay that goes with it, then this might be what you are looking for.
This is a practical, hands-on role producing large format printed graphics using professional printing equipment and specialised production techniques.
The work includes:
- operating large format printing equipment
- cutting and finishing printed graphics
- preparing materials for production
- quality checking finished work
- packaging and dispatch
The role involves a mixture of technical equipment operation and practical production work, working with materials that can be several metres in size.
Pace and Quality
Our work environment is busy and fast-paced, but quality standards are extremely important.
Because our products are highly visible to customers, every item must be produced to a consistently high standard.
This means the role requires someone who can:
- work efficiently and keep up with production
- maintain excellent attention to detail
- take pride in producing work that is both fast and accurate
The ideal person enjoys being productive and takes satisfaction in completing work quickly while still doing it properly.
Please state in your application covering note that you are aware of the above points regarding the nature of the role. Your application may not be considered if this is omitted.
Structured Training Programme
We provide a structured in-house training programme during the first year, designed to teach the specialised skills required to operate our production systems.
Training takes place on the job alongside experienced staff and is divided into a series of modules covering areas such as:
- large format printing technology
- materials and substrates
- cutting and finishing techniques
- workflow systems
- equipment operation and maintenance
- quality control and packaging
As each stage of training is successfully completed, salary increases to reflect the new skills gained.
Upon successful completion of the training programme you will receive company certification confirming completion of the training modules. Please note this is on-the-job training and certificates are internally recognised but may not be recognised elsewhere.
Salary Progression
Starting salary:
£24,000 - £25,500 depending on experience.
During the first year of training, salary increases step-by-step as training modules are completed, rising to:
£30,000 when all modules are completed, we expect this to take around one year.
Includes target Bonuses which make up around 10% of the salary and are paid monthly with the main salary.
This structured progression rewards commitment, learning and reliability.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- enjoys practical hands-on work
- has a strong work ethic and takes pride in doing things properly
- is reliable and pays attention to detail
- is keen to learn technical skills
- is comfortable working with equipment and machinery
- has previous experience in full-time work in any industry
- has a full UK driving licence
Because our production systems are specialised, previous experience in the printing industry is not required.
In fact, we are primarily interested in people with the right attitude and willingness to learn a specialist trade.
Physical Nature of the Role
This role involves:
- working on your feet for much of the day
- handling large printed materials
- moving and positioning items that can be several metres in size
Applicants should therefore be physically capable of handling large-format materials safely and comfortably and working in an active production environment.
What We Offer
- structured paid training programme (please note this is on-the-job training)
- clear salary progression during the first year
- opportunity to learn a specialist technical trade
- stable long-term role in an established business
- small, friendly team environment
- on-site parking
- optional overtime opportunities
Because the role involves structured training and developing specialist skills, we are looking for applicants interested in building a long-term career rather than a short-term position.
Career Stability and Security - A Specialist Technical Trade
The role combines technical equipment operation with practical production skills, making it a specialised trade within the printing industry.
Because of the variety of the work produced (no two jobs are the same), equipment, materials and manual skills involved, this type of work is difficult to automate and continues to rely on skilled people.
For someone who enjoys practical work and learning technical skills, it can provide a stable long-term career.
