Role Overview
The Scaffolding Foreman/women is responsible for supervising scaffolding teams on site, ensuring all scaffolding is erected, altered and dismantled safely, efficiently, and in accordance with current legislation, company procedures, and client requirements. The Foreman leads by example, maintains high standards of workmanship, and promotes a strong safety culture.
key Responsibilities
- Supervise scaffolders and labourers on site.
- Plan and coordinate daily work activities to meet programme deadlines.
- Ensure all scaffolding is erected, altered and dismantled in accordance with design drawings and industry standards.
- Conduct site briefings and toolbox talks.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety legislation, including working at height regulations.
- Carry out regular inspections of work areas and identify potential hazards.
- Liaise with site managers, clients and other trades to coordinate work activities.
- Ensure scaffold materials and equipment are used correctly and maintained in good condition.
- Complete site paperwork, inspection records and daily reports accurately.
- Monitor productivity and quality of work.
- Mentor and develop apprentices and junior scaffolders.
- Report accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions promptly.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and professionalism on site.
Essential Requirements
- Advanced Scaffolder qualification (e.g. CISRS Advanced Scaffolder Card).
- CISRS Scaffolding Supervisor qualification (preferred).
- Valid CISRS Scaffolder Card.
- SMSTS certification.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Good knowledge of scaffold design and current industry guidance.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to read scaffold drawings and work from design specifications.
- Excellent understanding of health and safety legislation.
