An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Credit Controller with a growing and purpose-driven organisation operating within the energy sector. This Credit Controller position is based onsite in Ware and offers the chance to join a small, supportive Credit Control team within a business committed to sustainability and customer care.
This Credit Controller position would suit someone confident managing customer debt, setting up payment plans and working closely with internal teams to resolve billing issues. The role combines firm but fair credit control with a strong customer service approach.
About the Role
As Credit Controller, you will be responsible for managing outstanding debt across a portfolio of business and domestic customers, with a particular focus on domestic accounts. Key responsibilities will include:
- Contacting customers by phone to chase outstanding debt
- Investigating individual customer accounts to resolve billing queries
- Supporting customers to better understand and manage their energy accounts
- Setting up payment plans and Direct Debits to manage ongoing usage and existing debt
- Liaising with internal teams and providing regular updates and reports
- Working independently while contributing to a small, close-knit Credit Control team

About You
To be successful in this Credit Controller position, you will need proven experience within Credit Control and the confidence to manage sensitive customer conversations professionally and effectively.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous Credit Control experience (essential)
- Utilities or energy sector experience (desirable)
- Strong Maths and English skills
- Good customer service skills
- Strong Excel skills
- A proactive, tenacious and self-motivated approach
- The ability to work independently and as part of a small team
