Pump Engineer – Clean & Waste Water Equipment – South East & South West England and London areas
We are recruiting for an experienced Pump Engineer in clean and waste water equipment and systems. This exciting role involves working on a wide range of water systems, including pumping stations, submersible pumps, sewage treatment plants, pressurisation units, booster sets, borehole and irrigation systems and more.
The successful candidate will operate across the South East & West England & M25 region, delivering high-quality design, installation, maintenance and repair services for commercial, industrial, municipal, and residential customers.
The Role:
As a Pump Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining, installing, servicing, and repairing a variety of clean and waste water systems and infrastructure. Your expertise will ensure that systems such as pumping stations, sewage treatment plants, booster sets, borehole and irrigation and drainage systems operate efficiently and meet regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
· Carry out new install, maintenance, servicing, and repairs on a range of clean and waste water equipment, including pumping stations, submersible pumps, pressurisation units, and booster sets.
· Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults to minimise equipment downtime.
· Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment.
· Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental standards.
· Complete service reports and maintain accurate records of all work carried out.
· Provide technical advice and support to clients when needed.
What We’re Looking For:
· Proven experience as a Pump Engineer or in a similar role within the water industry.
· Technical knowledge of clean and waste water systems, including pumps and related equipment.
· Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and fix mechanical and electrical issues.
· Confined space and health and safety qualifications
· A relevant mechanical or electrical engineering qualification is preferred.
· A full UK driving license and willingness to travel within the South East of England and London regions.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement pump systems tailored to project specifications and operational needs
- Conduct thorough inspections, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of existing pump equipment to identify issues and optimize performance
- Perform preventive maintenance activities to extend equipment lifespan and prevent unexpected failures
- Collaborate with project teams to select appropriate pump types, materials, and accessories based on application requirements
- Document all maintenance procedures, system modifications, and troubleshooting steps accurately for future reference
- Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and testing phases of pump systems
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, industry regulations, and quality assurance protocols at all times
Requirements
- HNC/D in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Water Engineering or a related field; relevant technical certifications are a plus
- Proven experience working with centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps, or other fluid transfer equipment
- Strong knowledge of pump hydraulics, control systems, piping layouts, and instrumentation
- Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and specifications with precision
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a proactive approach to maintenance and system optimisation
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and documenting technical information clearly
- Willingness to work in diverse environments that may include industrial plants or outdoor sites
