Furness Cars & Commercials Ltd is seeking a Vehicle Transport Operator to join our growing team. Unlike many roles within the transport and recovery industry, this position offers predominantly weekday working, permanent employment and a strong work-life balance.
Working from our Crooklands depot, you will be responsible for collecting, transporting and delivering vehicles safely and professionally throughout the UK whilst representing the company to customers, repairers, insurers and salvage agents.
Working Hours
This is typically a 5 days out of 7 position, predominantly:
Monday to Friday
7:00am to 4:00pm
Flexibility is required due to the nature of the work, and start and finish times may vary depending on operational requirements.
There may occasionally be a requirement for overnight stays, depending on workload and customer requirements. All reasonable expenses will be paid.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and deliver vehicles throughout the UK
- Safely load, secure and transport vehicles
- Conduct vehicle condition inspections and complete associated paperwork
- Maintain accurate digital job records and transport documentation
- Communicate effectively with our Control Room and Operations Team
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly
- Ensure compliance with Driver Hours, Tachograph and Road Transport Regulations
- Represent the company professionally when dealing with customers and the public
- Follow company procedures and safety standards at all times
- Help keep vehicles, equipment and work areas clean and presentable
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Full UK Driving Licence C1+E or CE
- Driver CPC Qualification
- Digital Tachograph Card
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Professional, reliable and safety-focused approach
- Ability to work independently and solve problems effectively
- Ability to manage driving hours and transport compliance requirements
- Within reasonable commuting distance of our Crooklands depot (LA7)
Desirable
- Previous experience in vehicle transport, vehicle recovery or automotive logistics
- Knowledge of UK transport regulations
- Experience using digital job management systems
