Help Build Our Dedicated LCV Workshop Bibby Commercials is expanding, and we are looking for an experienced LCV Technician / Van Technician to play a key role in establishing and developing our dedicated van workshop.This is an opportunity for someone who is genuinely interested in vans and light commercial vehicles and wants more than a standard technician position.Alongside carrying out repairs and maintenance, you will work with the management team to help build the workshop from the ground up. This will include helping to develop its layout, working practices, equipment requirements, processes and standards.As the department grows, you will have the opportunity to take greater responsibility for the day-to-day running of the van workshop and help develop it into a successful part of the business.What You’ll Get

Working HoursThe position will initially operate on standard daytime working hours while the LCV workshop is being established and the workload is developed.As the workshop grows, the role will move onto a structured rotating shift pattern.
The RoleYou will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of vans and light commercial vehicles while also helping to establish an efficient, well-organised LCV workshop.Your responsibilities will include:
- Servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance
- Mechanical and electrical diagnostics
- Fault finding and repairs
- MOT preparation and associated repair work
- Repairs to brakes, suspension, steering, clutches, engines and other vehicle systems
- Completing job cards and workshop records accurately
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship and vehicle safety
- Helping plan the workshop layout and equipment requirements
- Helping establish efficient workshop procedures and working practices
- Supporting the development of parts, tooling and stock requirements
- Helping manage workflow and vehicle turnaround times
- Communicating with management regarding workload, repairs and workshop requirements
- Taking increasing responsibility for the day-to-day running of the LCV workshop as it grows
- Supporting and guiding additional technicians as the department expands
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as an LCV Technician, Van Technician or Vehicle Technician
- A genuine interest in vans and light commercial vehicles
- Someone who is organised, proactive and takes ownership of their work
- The confidence and experience to help establish and develop a small workshop
- Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills
- Good all-round knowledge of light commercial vehicle systems
- NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair preferred
- Full UK driving licence
- Reliable and hardworking with a strong team attitude
- Good communication and record-keeping skills
- MOT Tester qualification would be an advantage but is not essential
- Previous workshop supervisory or team-leading experience would be beneficial but is not essential
