Currently have an opportunity for a Kitchen Porter to join us and support the delivery of a high calibre and effective catering service to all staff, students and visitors to our Craiglockhart campus.
The Job:
As our Kitchen Porter you will have the opportunity to use your skills to become a vital part of the smooth running of the food services and kitchen production.
Your experience in a busy catering environment will see you applying those skills to support the chefs in the delivery of a customer focused and efficient service of meals and hot and cold snacks, while operating the dishwasher, ensuring high standard of cleanliness across all areas.
You will also be in a good position to get involved in receipt and storage of all goods and removal of waste, ensuring compliance and implementation of all statutory regulations.
Don’t worry if you don’t have a basic food hygiene certificate, as we can put you through this training but if you do have one, you should be able to hit the ground running.
We will also cover training for manual handling, COSHH and any other areas relevant to the post.

Hourly rate: £13:45 p/h
Contract: Full Time – 35 hr/wk, Permanent, 5 days over 7 (3% salary allowance for shifts outside of usual office hours)

What we will need from you:

Catering and food service experience in a busy catering environment.
- Ability to work on own initiative but also as part of a team
- Good communication skills and a professional, courteous manner
- Flexible approach to working hours to cover holidays, absence and events.
