Walsall Council is in search of a skilled Arboricultural Surveyor to enhance the management, upkeep, and growth of the Council's tree resources and Urban Forestry initiatives. This role demands extensive arboricultural expertise and hands-on experience in tree evaluations, risk assessment, woodland analysis, and urban forestry. You will be pivotal in maintaining the Council's tree database, providing guidance on tree management, and aiding in the execution of the Urban Forestry Strategy. The position offers a dynamic range of tasks, including tree surveys, client interactions, woodland management planning, contractor oversight, and participation in broader environmental and landscaping projects.

Conduct surveys and evaluations of the Council's tree assets.

Evaluate tree health and propose risk management strategies.

Contribute to the implementation of the Urban Forestry Strategy.

Aid in managing and updating the tree inventory database.

Prioritize tree work based on risk and operational priorities.

Survey woodlands and assist in developing management plans.

Support funding proposals and environmental enhancement projects.

Offer expert arboricultural advice to residents, council members, and internal teams.

Represent the Council in consultations, meetings, site visits, and public events.

Ensure all arboricultural activities comply with current standards and best practices.

Assist in managing and overseeing arboricultural operations.

Support the execution of tree risk management programs.

Help with preparing quotations, tenders, and work estimates.

Address urgent tree-related issues safely and promptly.

Monitor contractor performance and work quality.

Contribute to broader environmental, landscape, and green space projects as needed.

Address inquiries, complaints, and service requests within set timelines.

Communicate with residents, elected officials, community groups, and external partners.

Collaborate proactively with Tree Wardens and local community projects.

Deliver a professional, customer-oriented service consistently.

Maintain precise records and management data.

Complete inspection reports, risk assessments, and related documentation.
Requirements:

Practical experience in:

Level 3 Tree Inspection Certificate (or equivalent)
