We’re looking for a confident and motivated Practice Accountant to join our growing accountancy firm in Inverness. This is an opportunity for a qualified individual with recent and extensive practice experience to take on a more senior role and support the owner in the running of the business.
The position would suit a candidate who would like to take on more responsibilities and develop themselves beyond accountancy. There’s scope for the right individual to shape the role depending on your interests, skills and ambitions.

The role
This will be a varied role, but duties will include:
· Looking after limited company, partnership and sole trader clients
· Providing tax and general advice to clients
· Preparing VAT returns, annual accounts and corporation tax returns
· Preparing personal tax returns
· Supporting junior staff
· Managing workflow and scheduling work
· Taking responsibility for ad-hoc projects
Candidate requirements
· Solid, relevant and recent experience in a practice environment
· Qualified or part-qualified ACA, ACCA or similar, or QBE
· The ability to take ownership of your work, including working unsupervised and to deadlines
· Working current knowledge of UK tax laws and accounting standards applicable to small business
· Strong knowledge of accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Xero and VT
· Genuine desire to be a trusted advisor to small business clients
· Good people skills and a confident and driven personality to help build strong relationships with the team and with clients
· Exceptional communication, organisational and management skills
