Production Planner
As our new Production Planner, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining the production plan across our manufacturing processes.
You will work closely with Production, Distribution, Purchasing and Customer Experience to support OTIF performance, manage production capacity and improve production efficiencies.
Alongside production planning, you will initially provide support with day-to-day transport administration. As production planning requirements increase and the Transport Apprentice develops, transport administration responsibilities will gradually transfer to the apprentice, allowing this role to become increasingly focused on production planning.
You will also develop an understanding of transport planning to provide additional cover and resilience within the Transport team.
Key Responsibilities
Production planning:
- Create and maintain production plans across Composite, Panel and Extrusions manufacturing processes.
- Proactively review demand against capacity and take appropriate action to support On Time In Full delivery at the best possible lead time.
- Be the main point of contact for production capacity queries and early delivery requests.
- Work closely with Distribution, Purchasing and Customer Experience to reschedule failed or delayed deliveries at the earliest opportunity.
- Review and categorise failed deliveries and support problem-solving activities to reduce future failures.
- Support production efficiency through improvement projects relating to planning, scheduling and production flow.
- Manage and plan non-revenue generating work requests including samples, service calls and showroom products.
- Maintain the production capacity planning model to reflect process changes and identify potential bottlenecks.
- Support Production Managers with expediting priority orders through production when required.
Transport support:
- Support the Transport Manager with day-to-day transport administration, including third-party carriers, delivery documentation and maintaining accurate transport records.
- Assist with transport reporting and communication with drivers, customers and internal departments.
- Develop an understanding of transport planning and provide additional cover during holidays, sickness or periods of increased workload.
- Support the development of the Transport Apprentice as transport administration responsibilities are progressively transferred across.
- Work closely with Transport to ensure production and delivery priorities are aligned.
What You Bring
- High proficiency with Excel and MS Office, with strong reporting and data analysis skills
- Previous planning experience would be advantageous
- Ability to interpret complex data quickly and accurately, with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines
- Possession of excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise across all levels of the business
- Demonstrable strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads effectively

- Starting salary up to £32,000 per annum
