About the Role
Perfect Fabrications Ltd is looking for a creative, reliable and trustworthy person to take responsibility for our social media content and help keep our company website fresh and up to date.
We are a busy metal fabrication company producing a wide variety of bespoke fabrication work. There is always something different happening in the workshop, from welding and fabrication through to CNC plasma cutting, press brake work and completed projects ready for installation.
We want someone who can look at the work we are doing and turn it into interesting, professional content that shows the quality of our work and presents the company in the best possible way.
This is a hands-on content role. You will not simply be given photographs and asked to post them. We want someone who is happy to come into the workshop, identify interesting jobs or processes, take good-quality photographs and videos, and turn them into engaging content for Facebook, Instagram and our website.
Main Responsibilities Social Media
- Manage and regularly update our Facebook and Instagram pages.
- Take photographs and videos of work being carried out in the workshop.
- Identify jobs, machinery, fabrication processes and finished products that would make interesting content.
- Create engaging posts, reels and short videos.
- Write clear and interesting captions with excellent spelling and grammar.
- Help build a consistent and professional appearance across our social media.
- Come up with new ideas for posts rather than relying entirely on instructions from us.
- Understand how to show fabrication work in a way that is interesting to customers and potential customers.
- Produce original content rather than relying on AI-generated posts or generic AI-written material.
Photography & Video
A good eye for presentation is particularly important for this role.
Before taking photographs or videos, we expect you to notice the details that affect how the company is presented.
For example, this might mean:
- Tidying or cleaning the area around a job before filming.
- Moving unnecessary tools, rubbish, cables or other distractions out of shot.
- Choosing a good angle and background.
- Making sure the finished fabrication is presented properly.
- Thinking about lighting and how the workshop looks on camera.
- Understanding what should and should not appear in photographs or videos.
- Taking several shots and deciding which ones present the work best.
We are not expecting a professional photographer, but you should naturally have an eye for what makes a photograph or video look good.
Website
You will also help maintain and improve our company website using Duda, our existing website builder.
This will include:
- Adding and replacing photographs and videos.
- Updating existing pages.
- Adding recent projects and examples of our work.
- Updating and improving written content.
- Checking the website for outdated information.
- Making basic layout and presentation improvements.
- Creating new sections or pages where appropriate.
- Making sure spelling, grammar and presentation are of a high standard.
Previous experience with Duda is not essential, but you should be comfortable using website builders and confident learning new software.
The Person We Are Looking For
The right person will ideally have:
- Good experience using Facebook and Instagram.
- A good understanding of what makes social media content interesting and engaging.
- Experience creating posts, reels or short-form video content.
- A good eye for photography and video.
- Excellent written English, spelling and grammar.
- Confidence using computers and online software.
- Experience using website builders, or the ability to learn them quickly.
- The ability to work independently.
- Good attention to detail.
- Creativity and the confidence to suggest new ideas.
- A willingness to walk around the workshop and actively look for content rather than waiting to be told what to photograph.
- Good organisation and time management.
- A trustworthy and responsible attitude.
Experience within engineering, manufacturing or fabrication would be useful but is not essential. We can explain the technical side of what we do. What is more important is having the creativity to recognise something interesting and work out how best to present it.
Working Arrangements
This is initially a one-day-per-week position based at our workshop and office.
The actual day can be flexible to suit the right person, and we can also be flexible regarding start and finish times.
The role needs to be carried out primarily on site because much of the content will involve photographing and filming work happening within the workshop.
There may be an opportunity for the role to grow in the future. For the right person, additional hours could become available assisting with general office and administrative work.
What We Are Looking For
We are less concerned about formal marketing qualifications and more interested in finding someone who has a genuine eye for content.
We would particularly like to hear from someone who can walk into our workshop, look around and think:
“That would make a great video.”
We are happy to provide direction about the type of image we want for the company, but we also want someone imaginative enough to bring their own ideas and gradually take ownership of our social media and website content.
Trust is also extremely important. The successful person will have access to company social media accounts, website systems and information relating to our customers and projects, so they must be reliable, sensible and able to treat company and customer information appropriately.
How to Apply
Please send us a short introduction explaining why you think you would be suitable for the role.
We would also like to see examples of any social media content, photography, videos, websites or other creative work you have produced. This does not necessarily need to have been produced as part of a previous job.
