Holy Cross Care Home is seeking Bank Kitchen Assistants to provide cover within our catering team as and when required.
This role suits someone practical, dependable, and happy to jump in and support a busy kitchen when needed. You’ll help ensure our residents continue to receive high‑quality meals in a clean, safe, and well‑organised environment.
The Role
As a Bank Kitchen Assistant, you’ll play an important behind‑the‑scenes role in day‑to‑day food service. Shifts are offered on an ad‑hoc basis, often to cover annual leave or sickness.
You’ll work closely with the Chef and catering team to keep the kitchen running efficiently, supporting meal preparation and maintaining high hygiene standards throughout the day.
Main Duties
- Cleaning dishes, utensils, and all kitchen equipment
- Using industrial dishwashing equipment correctly
- Supporting meal preparation under the guidance of the Chef
- Keeping kitchen, storage, and serving areas clean and organised
- Assisting with plating and meal service
- Managing waste disposal in line with regulations
- Following infection control, food safety, and Health & Safety requirements at all times
- Adhering to care home policies and procedures
- Attending required induction and training sessions
- Supporting the team with other reasonable kitchen tasks as needed
About You
- Reliable and able to work flexibly
- Comfortable working in a busy kitchen environment
- Good attention to cleanliness and safety
- A team player with a positive attitude
- Available to accept shifts at short notice
- Previous kitchen or catering experience is an advantage, but not essential
