We are a busy Construction firm, based around Worcestershire / Herefordshire boarder, looking for an experienced bookkeeper to join our team. We are a family run business and we undertake a range of domestic and commercial building contracts.
The ideal candidate will be someone with proven experience as a bookkeeper, who can work independently and in a team environment.

Overview of the role
To provide accurate financial management, maintain compliance with CIS and payroll requirements, improve cash flowvisibility, and support the directors and office manager with timely financial information.
The role should focus on financial control and business support.
DutiesCash Flow Management with Weekly Cash Flow Monitoring
· Monitor current cash position.
· Review upcoming income and expenditure.
· Identify potential cash shortages.
· Produce rolling cash flow forecasts.
· Provide recommendations to management.
· Issue invoices to clients
· Monitor overdue customer invoices.
· Chase outstanding payments.
· Report aged debtors.
Supplier Payment Management
· Review supplier balances.
· Schedule payments.
· Prioritise payments when required.
· Maintain supplier relationships.
Bookkeeping and data input – using project management software
· Input transactions into project management software and review transactions imported data.
· Ensure correct coding and allocation.
· Maintain accurate financial records.
Bank Reconciliations
· Reconcile all bank accounts.
· Investigate discrepancies.
· Ensure financial records remain accurate.
Financial Reporting
· Produce weekly reports to the team to show incomings/outgoings and check which payments need to be prioritise / chased.
· Report on cash position.
· Highlight issues requiring attention.
VAT Responsibilities
· Review VAT coding.
· Check VAT treatment of transactions.
· Preparation of VAT returns ready for submission.
· Maintain compliance with HMRC requirements.
· Respond to VAT-related queries and issues.
· Work with the accountant to reconcile VAT
CIS Administration
· Maintain CIS records.
· Prepare and submit monthly CIS returns.
· Ensure compliance with HMRC requirements and issues.
Payroll Responsibilities
· Process weekly payroll.
· Manage statutory payments where required.
· Produce payslips.
External Accountant Liaison
· Prepare information required by accountant.
· Respond to accountant queries.
· Support year-end process.
· Ensure records remain organised and accessible.
Internal Support Available (My Role)
To maximise the value of the finance professional's time, I can support with administrative and data entry tasks.
Project Management Software Administration
· Maintain digital records.
· Ensure documents are correctly allocated to projects.
· Input data relating to project costs – budgets and quotes from the Quantity Surveyor as well as day to day changes and variations.
Finance Administration
· Organise paperwork.
· Chase missing invoices and receipts.
· Gather information required for VAT periods.
· Maintain filing systems.
· Assist with invoice processing.
Ideal Candidate Profile Essential
· Strong experience with Xero.
· Experience managing CIS.
· Experience running payroll.
· Strong reconciliation skills.
· Experience managing cash flow.
· Ability to work independently.
· Excellent attention to detail.
· Good communication skills.
Desirable
· Construction industry experience.
· Experience using Buildertrend or similar PMS
· AAT qualification or equivalent experience.
· Experience supporting small businesses.
Working Arrangement
· Part-time position of at least 10 hours a week.
· Flexible hours.
· Office attendance required at least day per week.
· Close working relationship with directors and office team.
· Ongoing support available from the office for data entry and document management.
