Weekend Cook - Friday and Saturday Days
We are seeking a dependable Weekend Cook to work Friday and Saturday daytime shifts, 9.30am - 4.30pm. The role involves preparing and cooking food to a consistent standard, maintaining a clean and organised kitchen, following food hygiene procedures, and helping ensure smooth service throughout the day.
Duties include food preparation, cooking menu items, monitoring stock, keeping work areas clean, and working closely with the rest of the team. Previous kitchen or cooking experience is preferred, and a good understanding of food safety and hygiene is important.
The ideal candidate will be organised, reliable, able to work independently, and comfortable working during busy service periods.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of menu items with precision and creativity, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Follow established recipes, portion controls, and presentation standards to deliver exceptional dishes.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including food prep stations and cooking equipment.
- Adhere strictly to food safety regulations, including proper storage, handling, and sanitation procedures.
- Assist in meal preparation for special events or catering requests as needed.
- Support serving staff by ensuring timely food delivery to tables or designated areas.
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and communicate supply needs to ensure seamless kitchen operations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a restaurant or similar setting.
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety standards, and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent understanding of meal preparation processes from start to finish.
- Previous kitchen or restaurant experience is highly preferred.
- Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and serving staff effectively.
- Flexibility to work weekends, early mornings, or late evenings as required.
