Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and professional Front of House Team Member to join our vibrant hospitality team at the award winning Black Swan Inn. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for guests, ensuring they receive exceptional service in a welcoming environment. This role offers an opportunity to develop your skills within the hospitality industry, working in a dynamic setting that values teamwork and customer satisfaction. Previous experience in restaurant or guest service roles is advantageous, but a positive attitude and willingness to learn are equally important.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly and manage reservations efficiently to optimise seating arrangements
- Take orders accurately and serve food and beverages with professionalism and attentiveness
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards and maintain cleanliness of service areas
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks as required, supporting kitchen staff when necessary
- Upsell menu items to enhance guest experience and maximise sales opportunities
- Handle guest enquiries courteously, resolving any issues promptly to ensure satisfaction
- Manage cash transactions accurately using point-of-sale systems and provide correct change
- Maintain a tidy and organised front of house environment throughout shifts
- Support team members during busy periods to ensure smooth operation of the venue
Skills
- Previous experience in hospitality or restaurant settings is preferred but not essential; a positive attitude and eagerness to learn are vital
- Strong guest service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and courteously
- Knowledge of food safety standards and basic food preparation techniques
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage time efficiently during busy periods
- Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately
- Experience in serving, upselling, and providing excellent customer care is desirable
- Kitchen experience or culinary background can be an advantage but is not mandatory
- Ability to work well within a team, demonstrating flexibility and reliability
