Hillhouse Group is a family-owned business operating throughout Scotland. The company is a major supplier of aggregates, asphalt, readymix concrete, concrete products, road surfacing and civil engineering services to the construction industry and civil engineering sectors.
We are seeking an experienced Asphalt Plant Operative to join the team at our brand-new asphalt plant at Soutra Mains Quarry.
This is a permanent role split between the integrated plant/weighbridge office and operating a loading shovel, with responsibility for general plant and site maintenance.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Operating in line with the Company’s Health & Safety Policy.
- Following asphalt plant start-up and batching procedures.
- Verifying delivery notes and monitoring stock levels (aggregates, bitumen, limestone filler, fibre and fuel).
- Completing mobile plant inspections and reporting defects.
- Carrying out sampling, visual inspections and basic maintenance (e.g. greasing).
- Maintaining good housekeeping and supporting SHE meetings.
- Reporting safety and environmental incidents.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience within the asphalt or quarrying industry (essential).
- Loading shovel certification (ideal – training can be provided).
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft 365.
- Good working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental practices.
- Full UK driving licence.
