Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment. This role is vital in ensuring smooth kitchen operations and assisting with food preparation and service. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality and a keen eye for cleanliness and organisation. Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or catering setting is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience within the hospitality industry.
Duties
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision to support chefs and kitchen staff
- Wash, clean, and sanitise dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment to maintain hygiene standards
- Support with organising stock and ingredients, ensuring storage areas are tidy and well-stocked
- Help with waste disposal and recycling procedures to uphold cleanliness standards
- Assist in setting up workstations for meal service and clearing down after service periods
- Maintain cleanliness of work surfaces, floors, and other kitchen areas throughout shifts
- Support the team during busy periods by providing general assistance as needed to ensure efficient operations
Requirements
- Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or hospitality is desirable but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices is beneficial
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail
- Flexibility to work shifts as required, including early mornings or evenings if necessary
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks such as lifting and cleaning
- A positive attitude towards teamwork and customer service excellence

Pay: £12.71 per hour
