Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Weekend Cook and during week domestic to join our care home team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals for residents, ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene are maintained. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the well-being and comfort of our residents through excellent meal preparation and service. The position is part-time, working over the weekends, with a focus on delivering quality culinary experiences in a caring environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals in accordance with dietary requirements and organisational standards
- Plan menus that are nutritious, balanced, and appealing to residents
- Ensure all food is prepared and served in line with food safety regulations and hygiene standards
- Assist with the organisation and management of kitchen supplies, including stock rotation and ordering as needed
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, sanitising surfaces, and disposing of waste appropriately
- Serve meals to residents in a friendly and professional manner, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction
- Monitor food temperatures during preparation and serving to ensure safety compliance
- Collaborate with care staff to accommodate specific dietary needs or restrictions
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, ideally within a care home, restaurant, or similar setting
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage meal preparation within set timeframes
- Experience in meal planning and catering for special dietary requirements
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly manner when serving residents
- Ability to work independently during busy periods while maintaining high standards of quality
- Previous kitchen or culinary experience is highly desirable but not essential; training will be provided where necessary
