This role would particularly suit someone who brings life experience, sound judgement and a calm, professional approach to their work.
About DSL Group
DSL Group (Nottingham) Ltd is the UK's leading supplier of impulse promotional products to forecourts, convenience stores and independent retailers.
Our reputation has been built on exceptional customer service, reliable delivery and long-standing relationships with our customers. As the business continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced HR & Finance Support person to join our team and provide practical day-to-day support across both functions.
The Role
This is a varied position combining HR administration, finance support and general business administration.
We're looking for someone experienced, organised and dependable who is comfortable taking responsibility for their own workload. You'll work closely with management and other members of the team, helping ensure that our HR and finance administration runs accurately and efficiently.
The position could suit someone looking for either a full-time role or part-time hours, and we're happy to discuss the working pattern with the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on experience, responsibilities will include:
- Supporting day-to-day HR administration and maintaining employee records
- Preparing HR documentation, including contracts, letters and other employee correspondence
- Supporting recruitment and new-starter administration
- Managing holiday, absence and other employee records
- Assisting with payroll information and preparation
- Supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Processing and checking invoices, expenses and other financial documentation
- Assisting with bank and account reconciliations
- Maintaining accurate financial and administrative records
- Liaising with employees, suppliers, customers and external advisers where required
- Producing reports and spreadsheets for management
- Ensuring confidential information is handled appropriately
- Providing general administrative support to the management team
- Helping improve and maintain efficient HR and finance processes
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will be:
- Experienced and confident in an HR, finance, accounts or similar administrative environment
- Mature, experienced, professional and discreet, with the confidence and judgement that comes from a solid working background
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Comfortable dealing with confidential employee and financial information
- Reliable and able to work with minimal supervision
- Confident communicating with colleagues at all levels of the business
- Practical and willing to get involved in a varied range of tasks
- Good with numbers and comfortable working with spreadsheets and financial information
- Able to prioritise effectively when dealing with several tasks at once
Experience covering both HR and finance/accounts would be particularly advantageous, although we would also consider someone with strong experience in one area who is comfortable supporting the other.
For this appointment, maturity, proven experience and good judgement are particularly important to us. We're looking for someone who has been in the workplace long enough to be confident handling responsibility, sensitive situations and competing priorities, rather than someone relying simply on qualifications on paper.
What We Offer
- Salary of up to £28,000 per annum, depending on experience and agreed hours
- Full-time or part-time hours considered
- Permanent position
- 30 days holiday including Bank Holidays (pro rata for part-time employees)
- Company pension
- Staff discounts
- Supportive, friendly working environment
- Varied role with the opportunity to take real ownership of your work
- Opportunity to develop the position as the business continues to grow
Why Join DSL Group?
This is an opportunity to become an important part of an established and growing business.
We're not looking for someone who simply wants to process paperwork. We want an experienced, dependable person who takes pride in keeping things organised, spots when something needs attention and can be trusted to get things done.
For the right person, there is plenty of scope to make the role your own and become a valued, long-term member of the DSL team.
