Job Summary
We are looking for two friendly, professional and organised Receptionists to join our busy GP practice.
As a Receptionist, you will be a first point of contact for patients and will provide an efficient and welcoming service while supporting the day-to-day administration of the practice.
Previous GP/NHS experience is desirable but not essential. Training will be provided.
Working Hours
We are recruiting for two fixed shift patterns:
Position 1 – 26.25 hours per week
- Monday: 07:45–18:45 (30-minute unpaid lunch)
- Wednesday: 13:30–18:45
- Friday: 07:45–18:45 (30-minute unpaid lunch)
Position 2 – 21.5 hours per week
- Monday: 07:45–18:45 (30-minute unpaid lunch)
- Tuesday: 07:45–13:30
- Friday: 13:30–18:45
These are fixed working patterns and there is no flexibility to change the advertised days or hours. Please only apply if you can commit to all shifts within one of the above patterns.
Additional hours may occasionally be available to cover annual leave or sickness.
Main Duties
- Welcome patients and provide a professional reception service.
- Answer telephone calls and deal with patient enquiries.
- Process appointment requests received by telephone, online and in person.
- Manage appointments and support the practice's total triage system.
- Signpost patients to the appropriate clinician, service or department.
- Accurately update and maintain patient records.
- Register new and temporary patients.
- Process correspondence, scanning, filing and other administrative tasks.
- Direct requests including medical reports, DVLA forms and Subject Access Requests to the appropriate team.
- Liaise with GPs, nurses and other members of the practice team.
- Open and close the practice site when required as part of the allocated shift.
- Keep the reception desk and patient-facing areas clean, tidy, organised and professional at all times.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with GDPR, safeguarding and information governance requirements.
- Act as a chaperone where required and appropriately trained.
- Complete mandatory training and participate in practice development.
- Provide additional reception/administrative support and undertake other appropriate duties as required.

Desirable:
- Previous GP practice, NHS or healthcare experience.
- Previous reception/administration experience.
- Experience using SystmOne or another clinical system.
Additional Requirements
Appointment will be subject to satisfactory references, right-to-work checks and an Enhanced DBS check.
