iSQ Recruitment are supporting an established global manufacturing business with their search for an experienced
Automation Engineer to join their engineering team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an automation-focused engineer to take ownership of the site's
PLC, control systems and industrial automation, while also playing a key role in continuous improvement, equipment reliability and the introduction of new technology.
You'll work closely with the Automation Lead, production and project teams, as well as OEMs and other engineering stakeholders, to improve the performance, reliability and capability of manufacturing equipment.

The Role - Automation Engineer
Working as part of the Automation team, you'll be responsible for maintaining, improving and developing automation systems across the manufacturing operation.
You'll combine hands-on fault-finding and maintenance with
PLC programming, controls improvement, automation projects and technology integration, making this a varied role for an engineer who enjoys solving problems and improving how manufacturing equipment performs.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, fault-find and improve PLC and automated control systems across the manufacturing site.
- Support PLC programming, control system upgrades and automation obsolescence projects.
- Work with inverters, servo drives, HMI panels and automated production/packaging equipment.
- Support the integration and commissioning of new automation and manufacturing technology.
- Identify and deliver opportunities to improve equipment reliability, performance and efficiency.
- Work with OEMs, project teams and engineering colleagues on automation and continuous improvement projects.
- Support planned preventative maintenance and respond to automation-related breakdowns.

About You
- Minimum Level 3 Engineering qualification with an Electrical qualification or significant electrical content.
- Proven experience in automation engineering within a manufacturing/production environment.
- Strong PLC fault-finding and programming experience.
- Experience with inverters, servo drives and HMI systems.
- Experience working with production equipment, manufacturing lines or packaging machinery.
- Good understanding of machine safety and electrical safety requirements.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills with a proactive, accountable approach.
