To deliver contracted ground maintenance work to specified sites ensuring all Health and Safety requirements are met.
Key tasks:
- Grass cutting on specified areas using appropriate machinery
- Shrub and tree maintenance
- Flower bed weeding and maintenance (will include planting)
- Clear gully grates and dig out blocked gullies
- Clear and strim verges
- Rod blocked drains if practical and within remit
- Advise house/land owners & frontage’s when their ditches/drains need cleaning
- In especially difficult circumstances clear ditches – only with prior agreement
- Side out footways to normal width and spread arisings on verge where possible
- Maintenance of public rights of way, footpath to be kept litter free and cut
- Litter picking specified areas
- Keep good written notes of what work has been completed, when and where. Record an issues log
Key responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety legislation including COSHH, RIDDOR, regular checking of equipment, ensuring that safe working practices are adopted and that all equipment is operated safely and accurate/current records are maintained.
- Driver to be responsible for vehicle maintenance, reporting and solving of issues and weekly check record completion
- Contribute and/or complete required documentation on time
- Supervision of additional staff, e.g. apprentices and/or volunteers, where relevant
- Repairing and maintaining of equipment and materials where appropriate
- To identify issues and act upon them insuring that the needs and requirements of site owners/local residents are met at all times, treating them with dignity and respect.
- Wearing of PPE at all times without exception
- Ensure completion of risk assessments and method statements for work awareness raising of identified risks with the general public and clients

- Take part in and engage with the company performance review process

Post Terms:
- The post will be for a fixed time period as settled at interview with fixed hours but may require flexible working as agreed W4Y
- The Worker may be expected to attend evening and/or weekend meetings and/or events when necessary to support the community. Payment or time in lieu will be agreed in advance where required.
- The initial contract will be as stated in the contract of employment. The post may continue beyond this period subject to funding being secured and terms and conditions being met.
- Holidays will be, or pro-rata of, 25 days per annum plus Bank Holidays.

Pay: From £12.71 per hour
