We manage a residential property portfolio across the North East and are looking for an experienced, reliable maintenance operative to join our team full-time. You'll carry out a variety of repair and refurbishment jobs across our properties in Gateshead, Sunderland, Newcastle, and South Shields.
Key Responsibilities:
- Basic plumbing: replacing toilets, baths, taps, and fittings; fixing leaks and blockages
- Door hanging: removing and rehanging doors, fitting new frames, adjusting hinges/locks
- Painting and decorating (walls, ceilings, woodwork)
- Radiator removal, replacement, and bleeding
- Carpentry: skirting boards, architraves, shelving, minor repairs
- Flooring: laying laminate/vinyl, minor repairs to existing flooring
- Tiling repairs (bathroom/kitchen)
- Basic electrical: changing light fittings, sockets, switches (non-notifiable work only)
- Kitchen and bathroom fit-out support (Howdens-style installs)
- Lock changes and general security fixes
- Gutter clearing, minor roof checks, and reporting larger issues
- Void property turnarounds — getting properties ready between tenancies
- Responding to reactive maintenance call-outs and emergency repairs
- Basic gardening/external upkeep where needed
- Reporting larger structural or specialist issues (e.g. damp, subsidence) to management
Requirements:
- Proven experience in property maintenance or a similar trade
- Own tools and reliable transport (essential — multiple sites)
- Ability to work independently and manage own workload
- Good communication
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Multi-trade background (plumbing, carpentry, decorating)
Pay: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
