Cable Test Ltd is looking for a reliable and motivated Street Lighting Electrician to support our established long-term contracts.
The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team. The role will primarily involve working on our street-lighting Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) contracts and electric vehicle charge point (EVCP) maintenance contracts. There will also be opportunities to work in other areas of the business, including solar PV installations.
Main Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical installation work on street-lighting equipment, illuminated signs, bollards and associated street furniture.
- Carry out electrical inspection, testing and condition surveys of street-lighting installations and other street furniture.
- Carry out structural inspections of street-lighting columns and associated street furniture, subject to appropriate training and competency.
- Inspect, test and maintain electric vehicle charge points.
- Undertake fault finding, maintenance and remedial electrical work.
- Identify and accurately record electrical defects, structural concerns and required remedial works.
- Complete inspection reports, electrical certificates and other required electronic documentation.
- Ensure all installation, inspection and maintenance work complies with BS 7671, relevant industry standards and company procedures.
- Work safely and comply with risk assessments and relevant health and safety requirements.
- Work independently while also supporting colleagues as part of a team.
- Assist with other electrical work undertaken by the company, including solar PV installations, when required.
Training will be provided in specialist areas where the successful candidate does not already have the necessary knowledge or experience.
Location
Work will be undertaken throughout Essex, London and the South East. Travel between sites will be required.
A company van will be supplied for business use.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant electrical installation experience.
- Willingness to undertake a varied range of site duties.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to complete inspection records and other documentation accurately.
- A professional, reliable and safety-conscious approach to work.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience — Not Mandatory
The following qualifications and experience would be beneficial but are not essential or mandatory. Applicants who do not meet all these criteria are encouraged to apply, as suitable training may be provided:
- ECS or relevant CSCS card.
- Current BS 7671 18th Edition qualification.
- City & Guilds 2391, or an equivalent inspection and testing qualification.
- Experience in the installation and maintenance of street lighting or other highway electrical equipment.
- Electric vehicle charge point installation or maintenance experience.
- Structural inspection experience.
- Solar PV installation or maintenance experience.
