About the Role:
We are recruiting for a dedicated Senior Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact on pupils' learning and development while working as part of a supportive and collaborative team.
In this varied role, you'll deliver targeted phonics, literacy and maths support, working with pupils on a one-to-one basis, in small groups and occasionally with whole classes. You'll play a key role in helping children build confidence, overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
No two days will be the same. Alongside intervention work, you'll support teaching and learning across the school and may occasionally supervise classes during short-term teacher absence. Part of your role will also involve supporting children within an Early Years classroom, helping to create a nurturing, engaging and positive learning environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted learning interventions in phonics, literacy and mathematics.
- Support pupils on a one-to-one basis, in small groups and within whole-class activities.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and maintaining a positive learning environment.
- Promote pupil progress, confidence and independence.
- Support behaviour management and uphold high expectations across the school.
- Supervise classes during short-term teacher absences where required.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and parents to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
Essential Requirements:
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
- Previous experience working within a primary school setting.
- Experience supporting individuals, groups and whole-class learning.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A proactive and flexible approach to supporting teaching and learning.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A calm, patient and consistent approach to supporting children.
- Right to Work in the UK.
- A valid Enhanced DBS Certificate for the Child Workforce registered on the Update Service.
Desirable:
- Recent phonics training, including Read Write Inc. or an equivalent programme.
- Experience delivering phonics interventions and supporting early writing.
- Knowledge of supporting mathematics interventions in Key Stage 2.
- Paediatric First Aid qualification.
