Responsible for: Providing cognitive assessment and psychological support to enhance the psychological welfare of patients with stroke and other neurological conditions in the community and to enhance the work of the multidisciplinary team.
JOB SUMMARY
To work in the Stroke Early Supported Discharge Team under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist. The role includes assisting in the psychological assessment and interventions with adults who present with a range of neurological conditions. Predominately the team supports stroke survivors, however also support patients recently discharged from hospital with other neurological conditions such as spinal cord injuries, acquired brain injuries and FND. In addition, the post would involve carrying out such other work as the supervising Clinical Psychologist may require (i.e., service development projects, co-facilitating therapeutic groups and consultation to the MDT).
JOB PURPOSE
· To support and enhance the work of the multi-disciplinary team by providing a specialist psychological/neuropsychological service, in conjunction with the senior Clinical Neuropsychologist in the service, to people with stroke referred to the Early Supported Discharge (ESD) East & North Herts neuro-rehabilitation service.
· To support and enhance the professional psychological care of patients within the service by providing specialist psychological/neuropsychological assessment, formulation and therapy, as well as consultation, advice and supervision to the MDT.
JOB SUMMARY
· To contribute to the provision of a specialist Clinical Psychology service to adults, their families and carers, referred to the ESD East & North Herts Neuro-rehabilitation Service.
· To provide specialist psychological/neuropsychological assessment, formulation and therapy for complex cases within the service. This will be based upon Clinical Psychology, Clinical Health Psychology, and neuropsychological theory and practice.
· To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the teams’ policies and procedures.
evelop and maintain effective working relationships within the service and with relevant MDTs across other trusts within the region, and where appropriate outside of the region.
· To promote good practice in psychological care for people with stroke and other neurological conditions and contribute to the optimum management of patient care. This would include the provision of teaching and training and support to staff in the psychological aspects of neurological disorders, neuropsychological sequalae and long-term disability.
· Support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by other team members who provide psychologically based care and treatment, and offer specialist advice and consultation on patients’ psychological assessment and care to non-psychology colleagues.
· Work as part of the integrated ESD team at QVM and support colleagues from social care.
· Utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the areas served by team / service.
Pay: £32.00-£40.00 per hour
